On 26th March at 2100 a Triangle sprinkler system successfully extinguished a fire in a 2 storey residential block of 33 maisonettes in Redhill, Surrey. Triangle installed and commissioned the sprinkler system in November 2012 in accordance with BS 9251.
The fire occurred in a ground floor kitchen when the occupier was melting wax in a saucepan in order to recycle candles. One VK57 concealed sprinkler head, fed by mains water supply, was activated and extinguished the fire within 3 minutes. The only damage was from smoke and less than 8m2. The fire brigade attended with one pumping appliance but no fire fighting action was taken.
Triangle engineers have subsequently reinstated the fire sprinkler system back to full operational use.
